Wow! What to say?!She's absolutely amazing!
I'll start from the beginning.
Our guide arrived at 10:30 for our trip to Civil Affairs building. It took us approx. 20 minutes to get there, with all the traffic. We were taken to the waiting room where we went over some more paperwork. While waiting, we met another family who are staying at the hotel with us, and are adopting a 2 1/2 year old from Chenzhou. They have a 2 year old girl now, and she entertained us for awhile.
Our guides came in about 5 after 11 and told us there was a traffic jam and they would be running late.
They finally showed up about 11:45 or so. We watched them come off the elevator (every time the elevator "dinged" we about went crazy). I watched them bring Kalia in. There were no tears....just checking everything out. Even when they handed her over there were no tears. Lots of smiles...even a few giggles. We prepared for the worst, and got the best!
We stayed there getting to know each other a little bit, took some pics & video, then headed back to the hotel, with a short stop at the supermarket to pick up water, formula, cereal, wipes & diapers (and some coke & pepsi for Dan).

Dan & Amy (our guide) prepared some rice cereal, cause Kalia was HUNGRY! Then they got started on the paperwork, while I played with Kalia. Amy had us fill out a lot of paperwork today, so there will be little to do tomorrow.Once Amy took off we tried to get Kalia to take a nap. She was fighting big time, so I walked her around our floor. She fell asleep, but when I tried to lay her down, woke right back up. We tried again, and I held her a little longer this time, but she still woke up after laying her down. We finally gave up! We'll definitely have to ask the nannies tomorrow what her sleep routine is.
She's an amazing little girl. Full of smiles & giggles. Definitely a little spoiled by the granny program at the SWI, as she is used to being held a lot. But that's perfectly fine by me!
Congrats Silver's Family! She is just beautiful! Can't wait to see how things go for your new family of five over the next few days! (Do you have the girls in China with you? I couldn't remember.)

ReplyDeleteBrandi and Dan she is beautiful. I have been thinking about you and glad that things are going smoothly. Isabella wanted to be held all the time! It was hard work but worked so well with the attachment. Cant wait to see more pictures as you settle into being a family:)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you both! I know you are over the moon...she's beautiful. Grace was quite similar to Kalia the first day and everyday we saw more of her real personality come through. Enjoy these times in China...every bit of it. There's nothing like it!
